Hi, I'm Marc...

Most people call me Foz.

I took my first professional photo when my staff snapper couldn’t make a story I was assigned to, while working as a journalist in Vietnam over a decade ago.

After a quick tutorial from my editor and mentor, Nick, I was hooked and there was no greater feeling than seeing my images published in glossy print and online.

My Story

My life changed completely when I was hit by a car in Hanoi, narrowly surviving major leg and head trauma. It took 18 months to fully recover, most of that time spent with my leg in a frame to help rebuild it. Hence, 'Framed Man' on my social channels, which I’m only just coming back to, following an extended and necessary break.

Post-recovery, I continued working in local, regional and national newspapers, magazines, online publications and international broadcast media, before I found myself at a crossroads, feeling anxious and hating every aspect of work.

I went freelance and straight into the competitive world of commercial videography and photography, before suffering complete burn-out and descending into a deep depression. It took a few years to fully come through it.

During that time, photography and all things creative took a break. I fell out of love with, and was scared of, the creative process and lacked any confidence in my skills and abilities. I had a brief stint running my own Airbnb hosting business, working as a quizmaster, producing my own podcast with a friend and appearing as an extra in films and TV shows before rediscovering my love for photography.

Now, after spending a year looking after my first child and looking forward to enjoying more quality time with the second newborn, I’ve settled on photography as my main source of income, gaining more happy experiences and time behind the lens.

And throughout this time, if it weren't for the idea of remaining positive as much as possible, I'm not sure I'd still be here. It was time to write a new story, so, Positively Creative was born.

My Style

Owing to my journalistic background, my style is very much documentary/reportage storytelling.

I love catching all those non-deliberate candid moments when my subjects are acting themselves. I always want my images to tell a story and put the viewer directly into the scene, bringing those visceral moments to life.

And it’s the same when it comes to non-human subjects, allowing the viewer to interact with the space, product and story that’s your pride and joy.

Now I’ve told my story, get in touch and let me help you tell yours.
